The Preset Rod Release Coupling is essentially two standard rod boxes, one turned down, the other bored to receive it. A shear pin is then inserted, securing the two boxes together. By varying pin material and/or diameter the coupling may be designed to release at a predertimed load value ranging from 11,000 to 25,000 pounds direct pull.
